When talking to betty, you have to go downstairs to talk to Lottie, ask her for Betty's wand. she says you have to put the animals back correctly. Here you can see how it's done.

Will try here:
Take the blackbird. Put it in the free cage which is up north, keep it there to the end.
Put the Rat into the blackbird cage, move the spider to the spider cage(done) and the reptile to the reptile cage(done).
Move the rat to the rat cage(done) and the blackbird back into his cage(done) the bat and snail or something are already in their place, hope this helped.

If I remember correctly, Lottie is next to where you start the quest. Though things may have changed.
