wasn't eugenics used in the slave trade, to breed the fittest, so that their children would be better, stronger workers?

(just by the way, i haven't decided my stance on eugenics, so this is just a question, no implications or hidden meanings within the question)

You are correct, eugenics was used during the slave trade both (commonly) through the natural selection of who survived the grueling life of slave work long enough to have children and (less commonly) as a planned means to product "quality stock." There are some great academic journal articles that go into the long aftermath of these efforts.

Well, that line of thinking (directed evolution) is certainly not new.

It tends to have disastrous results when put into practice though don't you agree?

well I think a large percentage of people still mate up by race[or color] and even religion with conscious effort, even if the reasons are subliminal. Todays budding adults were born just as segregation ended. So we have to give our collective selfs time to 'evolve' into basically 1 human race, though I think we my fight it all the way.

I think I understand what you are saying, And probably the best way to rid ourselves of the genetic abnormalities and diseases that are specific to certain ethnic groups and races will be the eventual 1 human race.

My point is that eugenics seems to be a pretty slippery area, even with the best of intentions. It's one thing to screen for tay sachs disease. But anything that involves a "master plan" kind of worries me.

@mogul50 actually there are number of Jewish doctors who suggested eugenic policies during formation of Israel . Unfortunately libtards had a fit about it .

notice that there are no gypsies, or criminals, PoWs included, the Holocaust was exagurated. jews made eugenics look bad, so they would allow humans to mix, and then later on strike us when we're all weakened.

@XanaduZune You are assuming you have the right to dictate who is fit. You DON'T. People who are in power DO therefore YOU and your family would be subjected to testing to see whether you're fit, healthy, or attractive. You'd put your life in danger for these policies? I don't think so. I find people like you funny b/c you think your voice would count. You never consider the fact that YOU are on the same side of the ugly, unfit, etc. because you have no power.

@XanaduZune i'm for it 100%, i'm a mentally challenged man and i had my parents get me sterilised when i was 20 years old so i can't reproduce. there is a good chance i could father a mentally challenged child. i'm very happy i was sterilised.

So Plato & Aristotle gave the base for Eugenics & sir Galton & co. did the rest.Genetics are very useful in stopping hereditary diseases,but it is nurturing that leads to genius & a better planet.It wasn't the Nazi's,it was the SS ( Todeskopf Eskaders ) who were running Germany.Or more generally: It's not the elite but the elite above the elite that do multiply & use means of population control (Check out ''The Georgia guide stones'') to keep the flock as their cattle.

I'm in favor of Eugenics. I would like a society of beautiful, healthy, smart people, not retarded, ugly, diseased people. I want to get rid of welfare because inferior people get welfare so they breed inferior babies. IF anyone should be paid to have babies, it's smart & beautiful people! I would like to completely get rid of the type of people who are at the bottom of society. They are worthless and a big burden.
