I suppose that's where we'll find our common ground, since I can't deny that there are just as many parts in the bible that portray a loving god as there are that portray a vengeful one. I do read the bible quite regularly. I've covered most of it multiple times looking for different perspectives. I may have lost my beliefs, but I haven't lost my fascination with theology, or my hunger for the cold hard reality of Truth. Ecclesiastes 1:18 says it best ;)

No, that's not it. I will explain when I have more time, if i don't forget. I encourage you to look it up yourself(from the Bible itself too), though, because I'm not always the greatest at explaining things simply. God is still merciful and shows His love for His people in the OT.

@Lissy31810 (in case you missed them, there were 3 other replies i made besides the one you just responded to. Not sure if you saw them) I I guess I made the mistake of assuming that the word "ass" wouldn't be received as rude. Please recognize the spirit behind the words was not rude. And your statement about the OT does not answer my question, rather it avoids it. Which leads me to "believe" that you have no justification for it. If you can only justify half the bible, then why bother at all?

So you know, I grew up in a Christian home. But I wasn't saved until about 6 years ago. I was an agnostic, I questioned things. But I have faith now. I believe what Jesus said in John 14:6. I believe there is proof for the Bible, that it's accurate. I've searched. If you don't like that, fine.

People point to the OT, but they have to rightly divide the word of God. We are no longer in the OT.

And if people who do that aren't Christians, then why in the heck is the old testament FILLED with them?! Your talking to someone who believed for many, many, MANY, years. @Lissy31810 It is not arrogant of myself or anyone else to say that a "Belief" is not fact, or "False" as you put it. We call them "beliefs" because they're not fact or provable. Otherwise we'd call them "Truth". there's a big difference. I can "Believe" all I want that the "Northern Lights" are spirits dancing in the sky. That doesn't make it True, or change the "FACT" that they're actually solar flares ejected from the sun; burning in the earths electromagnetic atmosphere. Belief is irrational
