I have spoken to an employee there who witnessed the gassing of "overage" every single damn day. Over 500 animals are tortured and killed every single solitary day. Animal models are ineffective and detrimental, archaic. The animal model is actually detrimental for use as a human model. We cant even use men as a model for woman anymore. charles river actually does not HARM animals we are FDA improved and abide by animal humane rules and one of these rats might save one of your son or daughter lives some day . all you hear about is the negitivity about this company . I am a employee and deals directly with these animals . they are treated humanly

And it would indeed be OK to treat humans that way if they had volunteered- but animals cannot volunteer. They're forced to endure painful and terrifying procedures, and none of this does anything to improve medical science because substances react differently in every species. No one has the right to exploit any sentient being if they themselves would not like to be seen as a mere commodity.

ok jude i happen to know a family member that works here and i would like to tell you that there were some problems in nevada but charels river did take action on the employees. also ive seen inside the labs and watched testing and the animals were treated just like a human would be treated during an operation. the living conditions are also in check 24/7 so please get your facts correct
