Employees at the Chevrolet Lordstown plant in Ohio are building the pre-production Chevrolet Cruze & from what they've seen in the plant, the vehicle is going to be a hit with the public.

  • @26marbay This is great. I am looking forward to seeing the Cruze at the local dealership here in Ontario, Canada.

UMM NO they are not. The USA versions are fully built here in the USA in Lordstown Ohio, where the outgoing Cobalt was built. The engines are built here.. I would know.. I haul the bonding agent for the foundery in Defiance Ohio that pours the iron, and machines the engines for the Cruze, Volt, and every V6 and V8 engine GM makes. Your right though.. the car is a "world car" and has been around about a year elsewhere.

  • We love our 2012 Cruise LT,and plan on a Sonic to follow...

  • @kens97sto171 Actually the trans was made in Austria. But I'm very pleased with my Chevy and would gladly buy another.

That might explain it. I know the only 4cyl they make in Defiance Ohio is the 1.4. My Uncle worked at Lordstown for 40yrs. His son works there too. The car is really nice. And you should be proud that you bought it yourself, with your money. That is very important the car will mean more to you because of that. I won't get into the Foreign vs Domestic thing. Most Toyota's are made the USA in Georgetown KY. I usually buy what I want and what I need, if its built here all the better

  • @kens97sto171 You see I have the 1.8L in my car, and the 6speed manual, which I think was made in Canada. But yes, the rest of the car was made In Lordstown Ohio. I'm only 17 and I bought it myself with my own cash, kinda made me proud to buy an American built car, I also had a 1983 Chevy Camaro Z28, but thats a different story. My parents all drive Toyota's and I know there was no way I was driving one of those.

  • @dal3fan88 That could be true. There may be a plant down there. It is a world car sold in lots of places. But the assembly plant I know of is in Lordstown Ohio. And I pull freight into the GM plant that casts and machines the 1.4L turbo engine for the Cruze, and 1.4L for the Volt. They also cast and machine every v6,v8 and Duramax there. I guess they could ship the machined block to Mexico for assembly and back to Lordstown to put it in the car. But that seems pretty wasteful.

  • @kens97sto171 I have a Chevy Cruze and the last time I checked, the window sticker said the engine was made in Mexico.

  • if u want a car, go and get yourself an audi

  • @26marbay Ask your brother-in-law about the Sonic which is supposed to come out this fall. Heard it might get even better gas mileage than the Cruze (although is not as luxurious a car as the Cruze). Let us know. I will probably be buying a newer car next year (although probably not a new one). I'm checking out my options now.

  • @TheIrishCreamPuff ps it probably cost more new

  • @interpol007 I can drive. I do drive. I own a car. P.S. It has leather
