@micway12 Well, mine was never all that great on gas. I was pretty disappointed with it, they haul ass in an s10 because they are light, I had a 4.3 for 2 years though and never had a problem with it and you see them with 300k on them still running strong all the time ... I just got disappointing fuel mileage from my 05 and i see that my father and his stock 5.3 with just duals does a tiny better then my 6 did.
@Leafsrule016 With that being said- The the 4.3 vortecs are amazing motors. I had a 1996 2wd silverado with the 4.3, had over 240,000 miles and never burned a single drop of oil. They are actually a little better on gas. They have proven to be more reliable then other motors. And it might be possible that someone doesnt need a truck with a huge motor?. Not everybody is going to be pulling 7000 pound trailers, but they might like having a full size truck.
4.3's are gay as fuck, I had one and sold it to get a car, now my dad has basically the same truck you do but with a 5.3 (two wheel drive) and he gets better gas milage and actually has some power (and sound). I dont even know why they bother putting 4.3's in trucks, they are useless and no better on gas then a real motor
@ethandonker Yeah but you´ll never gat that muscle sound, or the same tourqe or power in a v6 stock compared to a stock v8...end of discussion, im all about v8 because the fuel efficency//effect in a v6 compared to a v8 is NOT better in any category. Haul, tow or just offroading, v8 will do better in a fullsize truck. anyday
@DanielMcGustafsson im not going to hate on you but a v6 4.3 is acually not a half bad engine. they can make as much power as there v8 counterparts. the gmc syclone had the same engine and it mad over 380hp!
@joek0617 well at least your not getting your information off some random place on the internet..... I can tell you that a motor doesn't need or want backpressure..... but maintaining velocity is very important...... the perfect exhaust is one that has almost pressure at WOT using the smallest diameter tubing possible..... if you don't believe me go to your local library and get a good book on high performance tuning.... that's what it will say.... or take alot of physics classes in college.
@AmericanMusc11e I do have a life, my auto teacher has more experience in 5 years than an average mechanic has in 10, and that's who i get this information from.
