Frankly Jazz was a half-hour television program produced in Los Angeles in the early 1960s. Each program featured one or more prominent West Coast Jazz performer of the day. Frankly Jazz was hosted by Frank Evans, a leading jazz disk jockey of the day. Joe Pass plays 'The Song is for You' on this episode.

Yeah! The legend Joe Pass on his '62 Fender Jaguar.
Jazz/surf rock were the intended market for the Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar; Joe Pass used both Jazzmasters and Jaguars.
As he shows here; the Fender Jaguar has a great tone for Jazz: rich and fruity!
I have a Sunburst '66 and use it for Jazz all the time with '13 flatwounds on; great guitars!
RIP Joe and thanks for posting this; peace out.

I've also seen pictures of him playing a Tele and a Jazzmaster.
Does anyone know the names of the guys in the band?

@rayjr62 - well, I am biased but I suspect you are right about that. I studied with Joe. When I first went back to Jr College, I wanted to expand out of R & B and Rock so I called some of the very names of Jazz who were teaching. They all sounded very clinical on the phone and turned me off. Then I worked up the courage to call Joe and he just said "what are ya doing Saturday and oh, by the the way, I don't teach reading". It was his warmth that enabled him to out-swing his contemporaries IMO!

@jessthehorse Unreal. I get the funny feeling that Joe could have played (and gotten killer tone out of) Sears- Roebuck Silvertone.

I think his single line chops were stronger befoe he started playing solo guitar.
