I canceled my order from the distributor for arkham city because of the online pass.

I've said it before, Sometimes a store has to have certain items, but I still speak out for what I believe. theres a fine line sometimes between being a gamer and a businessman and it's hard to distinguish.

but in the end, I do whats right for gamers. don't presume to say otherwise until you know the difference yourself.

For what its worth the RAGE online pass isn't as bad as all the others. It lets you play the game but some of the hidden areas (that aren't even story significant) aren't accessible. Think of it as if you where playing Doom, and you wouldn't be able to get the hidden room with the BFG, you would have to wait until later in the game when its just out in the open. Its still BS, but at least you can play it, for what its worth :/

Actually it's not your game because it's not created by the consumer. It's created by the developers. The consumer is just borrow the rights to play it. Same goes to Music/Movies/Books.

A physical copy of a game is as much mine as a car, book, dvd, or piece of furniture. these are all things that people sell, trade, loan, or give away at their own discretion.

A digital version of a game is without value and you cannot do with it as you please. it's the industries way of making you pay the same price for that digital copy as you would for something with actual value.

99% of the time I print display cases for new titles (at my own expense) to put on the wall for new titles. If I open a new title to try it out or to use the case for display purposes, It sells as used when I'm done with it.

WTF? That Deus Ex thing is totally crooked. I mean I hate online pass anyways but isn't half the point to encourage people to buy games new? I mean to make it so you buy a new copy that should come with the pass code that doesn't... If i had bought that game I likely would have bought it at the Canadian Gamestop chain since there are no small game shops near me and I'd have been totally pissed to find I bought it new and lacked an online pass.... WTF?

everything you warned us about has come to pass lol. I will never pay $60 for a game that i will have to pay a monthly fee to play online (call me tucker not sucker) , no thanks. i will stick with my PS2 games where the full game is on the disc i payed for and i can unlock stuff by playing, not paying. can't see buying a new game in the near future the way the industry is going. i gotta cap on my internet downloads as it is, i'm not buying incomplete games anymore.
