@montoyaohboya1 I have the Olympus ME-15 which is a mono mic ~$19 at Amazon and I have a Sony ECM-CS10 Stereo mic ~$30 from Amazon. Both are good mics. The Sony has a cloth covered wire which is stronger but also a bit stiff.

what's a good mic? I just bought the sony recorder (it was a bit cheaper than the ds 40 and seemed better) and plan to sync the audio with the video from my contour hd.

@RC62 - Ah - ok I think I understand. Thanks for the info on this device - much obliged :)

All well and good at 20mph. At that speed even a gopro would pick up your voice. Get on the (Freeway)

@bandit24seven I have used it at highway speed and it still works very well. Just have to tuck the mic into the helmet cheek pads.

@RC62 I tried it today but it did not work out. I think the voice recorder I have is not good for this type of thing. I am gonna sell it for probably around 70 dollars. What should I invest in from there.

@falconjgc Are you sure the problem isn't the mic? The noise cancelling feature may be the issue.

@falconjgc OK... I watched one of your vids. The mic sounds OK and so does the recorder. You need to poke the mic way back in the cheek pad. The whole mic needs to be pushed back far enough that the pad literally covers it. Almost back to your ear. Also, I am assuming you use a full face helmet. Keep the face shield closed when going over ~10 mph. I think you just need to keep testing until you get a good position for the mic.

I have a ws400s with an olympus me52 noise cancelling mic. I have absolutely terrible audio. I do not know what settings to use or anything. I get so much wind noise that you cannot even hear me. If you have any advice shoot me a message or something please. Thanks man.

@falconjgc Stick the mic in-between your cheek and the helmet cheek pad. That helps cut a lot of wind noise and it will still pick up your voice. On the recorder, turn off any automatic gain or noise filtering. I find it makes it worse. Last, make sure you set the gain (recording level) so that it never goes over "0". Ideally when talking the meters should only hit -6 to -4 db. If the level is a little low you can bump it up when you edit. if it is too high it will distort and be useless.
