Spinema: pedal powered community cinema

For those of you who attended the inaugural Spinema event last fall, you know that our bicycle-powered cinema was a success....sort of.

We used the bike/alternator rig to power the audio for "Tron" for the entire film, but our single bike couldn't produce enough juice to power the LCD projector for more than 15 minutes.

Since then we've moved across the Mission, and we haven't had the resources to resurrect Spinema. To make our dream of a 100 percent bike-powered community cinema a reality, we need to build and wire a custom rig that can accommodate multiple bikes--and we're looking for help.

Join us this Saturday, April 18, for a party/fundrasier in the backyard of our new apartment on 14th Street. We hope to screen a few independently-produced short films, and discuss our plan for saving Spinema. Updates to come.
