I start my basil seeds in seed starter pots made out of toilet paper. Here's how
Pour potting mix into the toilet paper roll seed starter. Leave about 1/2″ from the top.
Take about 3-6 seeds and put them on top of the soil.
Spray with water to wet the seeds.
Cover up the seeds with 1/4-1/8″ of soil and spray again.
Place the seed starter pot by a sunny window and cover with some plastic to greenhouse during the nighttime.

@CanarsieBK thanks so much for getting back to me - it was a trio herb pack which I bought - chives, basil and parsley - the parsley is doing great guns, but the other two, not - its indoors at a well lit window in the sun, the soil came with the pack! They are in little ceramic pots

@harky3413 Might just be some dud seeds. Not all will germinate. Plant more.
