MT. MORRIS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Hope College student has been paralyzed from the chest down after participating in an extreme race over the weekend.
Hope College released a statement saying senior James Sa was injured and paralyzed while participating in what's know as the Warrior Dash race. According to a campus e-mail by Hope Dean Richard Frost, Sa was hurt Sunday afternoon while participating in the competition.
The campus e-mail states that Sa was paralyzed from the chest down. The email says that James is an exceptional student, musician, and a key member of both the Centurian fraternity and Pull.
Frost goes on to say "This is a huge tragedy and while the injury is not life threatening being paralyzed is devastating to James and all his family and friends. Please keep James, his family and friends and his medical team in your prayers."
