I am having a problem with a vista laptop. We have all the options and features turned on but we are having a problem connecting Vista to a workgroup. Any ideas?

won't the static ip addresses prevent me from surfing the web while I'm networked?

I am still having issues with your configuration settings. What is your configuration for XP ?? My issues with xp are "Limited Or No Connectivity" with no ip address or subnet.

Hey,
The vista user needs to have a password for the xp machine to see it?
I have a vista machine that can see my xp machine but the xp machine cannot see the workgroup and therefor cant access the vista machine.
I tried your video, including the glitch, and it made my network non-identifed and i couldnt access the internet.
Any help? Thanks!

I had the same problem. I had to go to my printers website to see if there was a download for vista. There was. I downloaded it and found my printer in the set up.

What I mean is that my laptop can see my PC but my PC doesn't see my laptop. Really annoying and I've done this for both my computers with neither of them running any kind of firewall.

Well you actually might have a fire wall, check the windows firewall, and any other. I just had aproblem on my network that zonealarms was blocking the network, i just had to close it to make it work. Make sure your in the same workgroup as well, either MSHOME or WORKGROUP

this really worked with me! but oddly, i set it all back to "obtain ip address automatically" and i was still able to see the computers on my network
