I'm sad that I never got to learn the language of my heritage. I was born in the original homeland of the Potawatomi people in Indiana, and moved to Arizona when I was six. I wish I could learn, but there is no one to teach me. :/

Autumnfaithcooper. Neshnabekwe ne gdaw? Gneshnabem ne? Cho nendesin ekiktoyen ode zheshmowen. Mteno nedwendan eneshnabewikazoyen. Wegwendek yedek gnebech ngot gishget wa je nestetoyen Ni je neshnabekwe yawyen. Konege neshnabe ndaw mine eneshnabemyan. Bama mine ngoji.

You can not say that, that man is not a Potawatami native by his color, or any of the other man. I feel as if you Potawatami are very hard on life. I feel though as if you were trying to be meaan about what you said. As anishinaabekwaaks we are supposed to be excepting of other people, even our own.

Umm iThink That Potawatomi Natives SHould Teach Our Launguage. Not Tryin To Be Mean,But its True.

Giwigesem! Nin Wett-ke-te Nishnabe dezhnacas.
This is an excellent example of a group of young Potawatomi people who have had a limited exposure to the Potawatomi language speaking it. The key to keeping our language alive and vibrant is people encouraging our young people to speak their language.
