Pylons are not solid, indeed. The material we use is rip-stop nylon. When they are blown up the pylons are quite solid though. Thanks to the high air pressure inside, they burst immediately when hit by a plane.

Thank you for the nice video! There is no more flying under the bridges for safety reasons, but the race is still cool, and Budapest is an awesome city.

Pilots didn't fly under the Chain Bridge in Budapest this year, because of the high water level.
