There’s something truly beautiful about the depth of the lyrics and the emotion Bessie Smith brings to them. She was always fantastic at finding the pain and vulnerability in a song.

Sorry ebonics4everyone, I made a fairly uncontentious remark about the song. I wasn't making any big claims. I wasn't trying to knock anyone off their perch - but you feel the urge to contradict me. You are of course welcome to do this but I can't understand the point you are trying to make.
