  • This video was recommended to me?? What a waste.

One of the most articulate thinkers on YouTube... is not all that articulate, and not much of a thinker. What does this say about YouTube???

What if there is no hell? What if all that matters is what I do here in this existence that lacks any objective meaning or purpose? What would I do? Hmm... well, they shoot horses, don't they?

  • paleocrat - Are you saying that without the threat of eternal torture and some invisible sky-daddy assigning meaning to your life -- you'd shoot yourself?

  • Were I to be nothing more than a blob of chemicals amidst a myriad of similar blobs roaming about within a material system that is here without reason or purpose, being a cosmic accident of sorts, then I would shoot myself.

But I wouldn't without first offing a heap of other blobs. No reason required. The mass of these chemicals think they have rights, significance, or even free will! Pathetic. Such a delusion! Some blobs of chemicals shoot other blobs they call horses, don't they?

  • paleocrat - In other words, yes... Without an invisible friend assigning meaning to your life, you're useless... and without the threat of eternal torture you would be a sociopath and a monster.

    Good to know.

I don't care if you think you're Napoleon Bonaparte, if you need to believe a delusion in order to prevent yourself from becoming the serial killer you apparently wish you could be - by all means keep the delusion.

  • Thanks for making me aware of this bright young man. I'm going over now.

  • BigStr8Al - You're very welcome. I love his videos.

  • If god made me the way i am, he would not have given me this brain that uses critical thinking to realise he does not exist. Surely, the devil didn't give me critical thinking to avoid "sins"...

  • Damn, good thinking.

"without reason or purpose, being a cosmic accident of sorts, then I would shoot myself."

Sorry to hear that nothing in life gives you meaning beyond your imaginary friend. I personally derive, what you would call a "positive release of chemicals" that makes me "want" more of such releases, from the love of my friends & family & from doing certain things that make my chemicals blobs react in a way that encourages repetition of such events.

  • Lame argumentation based on brute fact assumptions that are easily slam dunked.

  • Lazy perfectionist is definitely lazy in his "polemic" Faulty appeals to authority, genetic fallacies abound. Articulate? He is a good speaker and not a strong argument against Pascal's Wager. Lots of holes. Of course if you have a bankrupt worldview, your argument will be bankrupt too.

  • what you fell to realize is; most christians are not dumb, they're afraid. when i was very young i was told that if i wasn't good, i would burn for all eternity. that's very strong psychological pressure. i also was christian for a while, but i started reading the bible critically and i found most christian theology is not based on scripture but on the questionable writings of the apostle paul who contradicts Jesus many times. bottom line: religion is a weapon of fear used to control the masses.

  • First palocrat says that it doesn't merit his view, then he says without the invisible man in the sky he'd kill himself, then he says he will make a video response?!? Confused? So am I.

  • haha Cute. Deserves a video response. Coming soon.

Brief: If we ultimately came from nothing, are no more than blobs of chemicals accidentally popping up on the scene with no real reason for our existence other than what our chemicals tell us, and if humankind is walking aimlessly in history, making up meaning as we go (only to return to dust), then why not? It is no better or worse than were I to make mac and cheese for my kids, as all is truly without meaning or normative direction. Why not?
