Me singing 'Will Ye No Come Back Again'
After the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie at Culloden in 1746 and his escape back to France, with the aid of Flora MacDonald, there were still many who hoped that he would return, some day. Here is a song about that sentiment, written by Carolina Oliphant (Lady Nairne) in the first half of the 19th century). There are a number of versions of this song, this is one of them. Traditional Scottish music.
Using the AKG D5 microphone, through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 preamp, recorded in Garageband using the live performance setting. Music made in Garageband using a midi file and altering the instruments.

  • you have a fantastic voice, no bullshit, the range and power behind is impressive

  • @scottishartist1292 Many thanks for your comments , it means a lot to me. I was influenced by Kenneth Mckeller in the singing of this.

  • Very nice! This tune sounds familiar but I don't think I have heard the song before. Keep on singing my friend. God bless.

  • @detaylor7 Cheers Don, yes it is an old traditional Scottish tune, used with a poem by Carolina Oliphant (Lady Nairne)

  • @Blogrich55 Hi Rich, yes they did show a wee bit :) No we don't do the Thanksgiving thing here (turkeys are more worried at Christmas here:) We celebrate when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Bonnie Prince Charlies' great great grandfather's parliament up on November 5th, when we have bonfires and set off fireworks, much like your 4th July celebrations. Nice talking with you.

  • @kingmidas I guess my Puritan leanings showed in my comment:) Well, that said, it is Turkey Day here in the States and though you don't celebrate it, brother, I pray you have a happy, blessed day over there!

  • @LABONETE1 Cheers Jose, yes it is a very popular song in the `UK

  • @GR8GTRFAN Cheers Mike, thanks for listening

  • @Blogrich55 Cheers Rich, many thanks for your comments. Yes it's a mixed topic, Charlie's father thought he was the true Monarch of Great Britain, which he was really, but for the defeat of his father earlier. The lyrics I found were 'Better loed ye canna be;' which I thinks is Scottish for loved, although I could be wrong :)

  • Good job Geoff. Mike

  • I haven't heard the song but it's very beautiful how you sung it.
