  • "you talkin bout the best player to play the game!"- Kobe about himself.

  • That is how a true athlete and leader responds to a comparison to one of the greatest ever to play the game. Be the comparison Jordan, Pippen, Kareem. To say "Let me be the best me that I can be" that is how a scholar of the game responds.

  • @Scarbladeofwind Like what?

  • And after that year he lost in the finals but 2 straight years later.......Lakers were Back to Back champs! Laker fan forever!

  • well you made my point......i said more athletic.....never said they got more skills or understanding of the game than guys before

  • @ryan49er1 Are there some unique players today? Sure, but it's not like the NBA is full of them. There are unique players in every era. There were centers and PF's in the 80's and 90's that had SF skills, too. Obviously, when you get to that level of competition, athleticism is important, but skills and an understanding of the game are much more important.

  • @hoopfan71 i mean there are alot bigger men who are just as fast....it's evolution in sports...ALL sports.....I said mj would be great in both era's btw........I do agree about the intelligent factor....today's players arent learning the fundamentals in college anymore for the most part

  • @ryan49er1 A lot more athletic? Check out the highest verticals in NBA history, for example - the top 5 are by players from the 80's. Also, strength is often negated by smarts and craftiness. I would argue that many of today's players are not intelligent when it comes to playing off the ball and playing good team basketball. We saw what MJ was able to do at age 40 just 8 years ago. While he wasn't at his most efficient, he still was effective. I doubt things have changed that much in 8 years..
