  • @whoo689 "caused Congress to ask"?? LOL. Couldn't be further from the truth! A scared and misled Congress changed the sentencing guidelines and created the disparity because some basketball player OD'd. A basketball player! Not a gangster or trafficker.

PROHIBITION is the problem. The drugs themselves are JUST SUBSTANCES. What people do with them or for them is still a voluntary decision. Stop blaming drugs.

  • Victory? People shouldn't be jailed for using drugs at all, prison fails to address addiction to harmful substances in a humane or remotely successful way. Send them to jail if they steal to feed their habit but this whole war on drugs is a sham and I personally don't know anyone who supports it. The only thing keeping drugs illegal is doing right now is wasting taxpayer dollars, ensuring an unsafe supply, and continuing to prop up narco-states and organized crime. DEA = conflict of interest.

  • Crackheads are the best liers They'll sell you a dream to get a high and you believe them too.

  • I hate crackheads and coke fiends, but I love this law! Now if only we could legalize it and let presumably responsible adults choose their own idiotic recreation, I'd be really happy!

  • Legalize Cannabis Now...Stop The Madness......

  • and at the same time they pass a law that doubles the penalties for cannabis edibles, WTF!

  • the heritage people won't be happy till we are all in their church donating 20% of our checks to them, or in a private owned prison they have stock in..

  • They reduced crack penaltys but doubled the penalty for marijuana brownies?

  • The US has roughly 5% of the world's population and 25% of the prison population. The US imprisons more people than ANY other country on earth. The reason is the drug war.

  • @whoo689 And if by "bad behavior", you just mean some things that some may find immoral or bad but aren't criminal and don't harm others, SO WHAT. You can disapprove without making it illegal. Why do conservatives not know this?? They seem to think that every little thing that they think is heavily immoral should be extremely regulated and/or made illegal. As if that's the ONLY way to show our disapproval as a society. What about getting drunk or smoking cigarettes? THOSE are legal.
