I feel the same way; the burden shouldn't always be there to lie about who you are. It took me two whole weeks to convince myself to tell my closest friend, but the second time was so much easier. Only two people know, because I have VERY homophobic parents who openly talk about gay people as idiots who are unnatural, and how they should be arrested. I thought I was straight until I realized that this, not that, turned me on. My sister supports gay and lesbian rights, but I can't tell her. :(. T

Do not worry about how you are coming off man. You look beautiful. And not being interested in sports doesn't have anything to do with being gay. That's just a silly stereotype.

@samtheman931 Ugh, I know. Almost 3 years later now, it's hard for me to look back and watch this video of myself, haha. I'm a much different speaker now :) a lot less flamboyant too, hah.

I kind of envy you. :) I grew up in a Christian Fundamentalist home, so at 16 coming out was just not an option for me. (My closest friends new, but not my family.) I wanted to, but...Anyway, everything you said about lying about yourself is so very true--did that, got depressed, and even suicidal. Although my family situation couldn't have turned out more different than yours, it was still worth it because I am happy. I miss them in my life, but what can you do in a situation like that?

There is nothing more imporant than us being truthful to ourselves and finding that inner happiness... and we cannot do that if we constantly have to lie. Even though it did not work out the best... you did the right thing. :) I hope the best and that one day the lost connections are restored.
