Paul Haugen of Right hook music and Bob Weigel of Sound Doctorin' (http://www.sounddoctorin.com) mess around and talk about three classic combo organs. The Fast 5, peak of the 'fast' series of 1968 is a great find. The Whitehall 6640 combo organ is another fairly rare find. One of the coolest looking little organs with the red plastic top (not shatterproof as Paul found out on a previous shipment of one of these which I had to do a resin repair on. ) and great sounding! This one is complete and in near mint shape. The Fender starmaster is extremely rare. These apparently never went into actual production. They were made by Porto in Italy and Fender was considering them as a product to replace the Contempo. Not sure what happened but there are a couple oddities about these. The bass controls are wired backwards for one. And there is no way to tell any difference in the vibrato speed near as I can tell. Also the percussion inst. feature is kind of a niche weird thing. You can create the speed of a marimba kind of noise I guess you'd call it that goes when you are playing even when no tabs are selected. But it also modulates some of the tabs. It has some very rich sounds. There are two banks of switches and you can A OR B them..or A+B them. Great for a quick 'patch' change. I modified the LFO circuit on the ones I have to make it so you can hear a difference :-). Easy enough to swap back if someone wants to restore it to what it was for historical value. ...since someone said there were supposedly 9 of these made. Again a pretty great looking plastic wood grain top on these. Anyway probably the only time in history these three organs have been seen together in one place. lol.

  • Your friend Paul is a brilliant musician.

  • @Desmaad Wish I could get him to spend more time working on stuff to get a show together. He's really gifted.

  • Mr. Haugen's got the magic touch. Whitehall 6640 combo organ is so cool... I'm trying to get rid of mine for some cash to sail around

  • tell Mr. Haugen that i've seen probably every combo organ video on youtube, and he is easily the best player. I wouldn't mind seeing more.....?

  • At 4:50 I reached for the screen like I was going to press one of the tabs...someday someone will have a big block of midi'd transistors that will take every great organ and build it's tones with pure transistors...that day could be now!

  • cool sounds

  • i dont know much bout those machines but I definetly love their soundd

  • I love combo demos like this, hope to see more of these from you guys. Also nice to hear someone who can actually play the instruments. On the Starmaster, it isn't so much about how many were made, it's really about how many Bauer Starmasters were rebadged as Fender for sale in America. I currently have three I got for for a few hundred each on eBay. Robert MacNutt has info on 33 different Fender Starmasters so far from eBay, Craigslist, etc. And who knows how many Bauer versions are out there?

  • a fetishistic orgy of organs. zowie.

freekin Paul can play. good chops, and understand organ (can tell by the 'sweeps')

what's that like? i mean to actually be able to play? I can't. but am still an organ enthusiast, go figure.

  • The Whitehall 6640 looks (and sounds) like it was made by Ace Tone. It's very similar to a TOP 5 (except for the C to C keyboard, colored lights and bass octave) the knobs, tab switches and keys look the same as Ace Tone. Check if it was made in Japan. Keep up the awesome work and keep those vids coming!

  • @sounddoctorin He's definitely better at keyboards than behind a camera ;) Anyway, that's an original way of shooting :D

  • this is so cash ! come to san francisco !
