Jean is one of the fortunate small business owners who maintained his business after the earthquake. Many business owners lost their small and medium-sized businesses in the earthquake, delivering a blow to a sector that provided hundreds of thousands of jobs. An estimated three quarters of the $2-billion in private sector losses created by the earthquake were sustained by small and medium-sized businesses, according to the Action Plan for National Recovery and Development of Haiti presented at the New York Donors' Conference.
