Spicy Chili Sweet and Sour Meatballs
500grms or 1 lb pork mince
1 small onion, chopped finely or grated
2 small onions chopped
3 cloves garlic (crushed)
1 red pepper, de-seeded and diced
1 green pepper, de-seeded and diced
1 tin tomatoes
1 450 grm can pinneapple chunks in juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 teaspoon cornflour
2 or 3 very finely chopped chillies
Place the mince in a mixing bowl, add the finely or grated onion and garlic and chillies. Use clean hands, mix well and shape the mixture into about 15 meatballs.
In a non steak pan quickly fry the meat balls to seal them, then remove and set to one side.
Add the peppers and the chopped onions .to the pan and stir fry for a further 5 mins.
Add the plum tomatoes
Stir in the can of pineapple chunks, soy sauce, tomato puree and bring to the boil.
Return the meat balls to the pan, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for around 15 minutes.
If you prefer larger meat balls, allow more time to simmer.
Mix the cornflour with a little water to make a thin paste, mix this into the pan, stirring all the time until the sauce thickens.
Seve with your Penne Pasta.
