Not that she's not a talented singer or pianist, it's just not an interesting cover. Tom's live version in Austin has you on the edge of your seat, making you laugh one minute and breaking your heart the next, and it has nothing to do with how pretty his voice sounds when he sings. He's just a master storyteller. This is why people should avoid covering the best of the best, it makes them seem a lot less talented than they really are in comparison.

Stop performing for the crowd and get into the role. The way you sing this piece is like you never drank whiskey or done dope. It's like singing Lush Life without ever getting yur heart broken. Don't worry so much about playing a good piano. Just sing this song as if you are a junky hooker.

This song is more fit for a woman to sing. But it's just lacking emotion. Not saying she's a bad sing, just that there's no way to properly cover Tom without singing your heart out.
