Then The Breakdown

Well, its off to work and back again,
Its been a day, but it seems like ten.
And its on his face...
Yeah, and it seems these days,
When he gets back home,
All he wants to do is be left alone...
Now she knows the man,
Hes not the kind to ever put
This kind of thing in her face...
But she knows theyre all about to break,
If this man doesnt find a way to get up,
And stand his ground on his own...

And she puts her head on his shoulders...
And she whispers, in his ear...

Where is the man that I thought I knew?
Darling, whats become of you?
Please find your way back home!
There was a man, that I knew before,
Life was an open door,
Please find your way back home!

...Then The Breakdown!

You can hear them in the next room,
Its funny how in your gloom,
you remember...
Back to the days that you used to take
Your little girls hand
Into your own...
But that was when you had the strength,
You needed to be both
Strong and tender...
And now it seems youre what you see,
Daily in the mirror,
More and more and more, and more, and more...

And every night when you pass by her door,
You could swear you hear her whisper!

Where is the dad that I thought I knew?
Father, whats become of you?
Please find your way back home!
There was a dad, that I knew before,
My guide and open door,
Please find your way back home!

...Then The Breakdown!

Well, I know its been a while,
Since Ive even tried to stop and talk with you,
But I really need your help Lord!
Seems I took a turn or two,
And tried to do it there all on my own...
I guess I filled my mind with pride,
And then I refused to even listen!

Where is the man that I thought I knew?
His faith and his trust in you,
Assured his way back home.
There was a man that I knew before,
Life was an open door,
Hed find his way back home!

Hed find his way back home!
Hed find his way back home!
Hed find his way back home!
Hed find his way back home!

Words and Music

A song of desperation and yet spiritual healing as well.

We all have years that "watershed" years for us. 2008 was one of those years for me.

It was a year that I faced obstacles that I just wasn't prepared for. It was a year that I fully realized that there is absolute evil alive and well in the world today, waiting to take pot-shots at you at will.

Writing this song has been an absolute life-saver for me! I hope you enjoy it!
