Nathan graciously demonstrated the many different sounds possible on the accordion- shakes, vibrato, harmonica-like sounds etc.- plus all of many combinations of stops you can have. I intended to write a more new music-y piece but everything I wrote felt cliched so I decided to embrace that and not to worry about being derivative. This style comes out of work I did with pianist/composer Amy Rubin in Seattle- our duo played tangos by Astor Piazzolla and others. -Tom Swafford
