President Barack Obama Inspires With His Recent Speech In San Francisco. This last Friday I attended a DNC reception, met the president and like many in attendance was very inspired by his talk. He said that the recent election was not about him but about us. Our vote was a vote for change not just in our leaders but within ourselves.

It's time for us to say yes to our own strengths. There is a genius hiding within each of us and we all have the power to make a difference if we make a commitment to use our talents rather than bury them...and not only to use those talents but that we can have fun and enjoy the process as we awaken to the greatness within each and everyone of us.

Our leaders cannot bring about the changes we dream of without our help...and we can't help if we choose to stay asleep and operate from cruise control. Our destiny is up to us. We are the leaders and we have the power.

The question is, "Are we going to choose to use our power ... or just be content with cruising."

I say "You cruise, we lose". So let's look in the mirror recognize our strengths and talents and have fun coming together to crate the world we've all been dreaming of.

  • I love you sharon. I was just looking for videos of MJ for the big anni (happy new year btw ;) and I found yours... I see/feel the exact same things you do, and you probably don't need to hear this from me, but we are right. we need to inspire others who may not have been touched by Michael the way we were, we have to try to do for others what he did for us. by the smile the peace that true love brings. Obama is HUGE after the past 30 years of presidents... THIS IS IT :D

  • @morebeauty Thank you what a beautiful spirit you have. Keep shining the light. PEACE

  • sharon i consider myself a very pessimistic person but watching this video gave me a lot inspiration and hope.

I liked the comment you made about the leaders not being able to do it alone, but that we need to help them.

But we should remember we need to pressure our leaders, always. It is sobering to see that so many special interests have latched onto our politicians and are hijacking our democracy. The health care and war debates raging right now are two of the biggest examples.

    God bless

  • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It is indeed sad that special interest groups have been able to hold our democracy hostage. We are the only ones who can set our democracy free...by taking our ability to make free choices and choose to use our God Given talents to help our leaders co-create a better world.

Thank You And God Bless You Too!

  • That's so interesting! I was only a baby during Reagan's presidency, but I studied him and found him to be an interesting, if polarizing, political fellow. What you say about him is very disconcerting, though. :\

  • I produced an event back in the late 80's. Ronald Reagan's daughter, Patti, was one of the many guests. Towards the end of the evening we had a long talk about our dads. I said when I met her dad he seemed kind but his ability to hold a normal conversation was non existent. His responses seemed more like he was conversing with an imaginary person in his head. Davis said this was normal behavior for her father and that it was difficult having meaningful communication with him because of that.

  • well said!

  • That is kind of sad. My Grandfather was like that, so I can empathize. IT sounds like you had a great time at the DNC Event, though. I did grass roots campaigning for President Obama in the 2008 elections, and other local candidates for state Supreme Court nominations. It was a very ...energetic time.

  • The luncheon where we were both scheduled speakers was prior to his presidency back in 1974 when I was still a teen.

I was California's Junior Miss that year and only wore lipstick and a little mascara. I was seated next to Ronald Reagan at the head table and was so shocked to see him wearing so much makeup.

He had a very difficult time holding a conversation. His brain was skipping around to many disconnected subjects. He seemed very lost without a script. I was very concerned for him.

  • When you say Ronald Reagan was wearing pancake make-up I thought it would be funny if he was attempting to be 90s goth or a mime.

It may have been his distraction for the Iran-Contra Hearings.
