I was at a fellowship with South African pastors--we started singing traditional hymns and I HAD to record this one.

Beautiful. I wish more of such great videos on South africa can be put on youtube coz these journalists only upload crime and the negatives about our country, as if thats the only thing happening in South africa. Probably right now the world thinks we are forever running like headless chickens and killing each other in S.A coz of the reports they get from the media. Thanks for sharing this pastor.

I played the video at the beginning of one of our choir practices here in the states. We listened to the whole thing, rejoicing with the joy expressed in the video. Then one of our sopranos said what I was feeling as we turned to practice... "Now we have to listen to ourselves?!"

You have to understand that music has always been an instrument of resilience in South Africa, especially in the past with the oppressive regime. It's normal for black South Africans to gather &up and breakout in song in expression of what ever emotion at the present time(be it sad, happy or angry!) The above clip is an accurate portrayal of a typical choir rehearsal in a black township church. I'm so glad Pastor Tim Graham had an opportunity to experience such african style worshiping.

WOW, why can't we praise in our churches here in America like this. Just spontaneous singing, no director, no sheet music, whew!!!! Somewhere, we are missing it!!

@PastorTimGraham - I am South African but living in Saudi Arabia and one thing that I have noticed among the south african expats are that it does not matter where we are, how far we have to travel, how much money we have to spend to get to a church we will do this as we know irrespective of what happens in our lives we are what we are through the grace of God...Praising my Saviour all the day long...OUR GOD IS GREAT!
