Something else too. In TPM, there was only, like, one scene where Jar Jar got to show his emo(ish) side. The scene where he's staring mournfully out the window lamenting the coming war. Critics seem to overlook Jar Jar's defining characteristic - a trait which makes all his flaws forgivable - and that is his sense of honor and loyalty. In spirit, he's no different than Chewbacca. Actually, he goes a step beyond by not sharing the racist bigotry of either the Gungans or the Naboo.

Is there a Kwazel Maw "Boogie monster" for him to ride? XD
Jar Jar is an extreme empath (which is why he appears foolish to the average person). That's how he was able to befriend the "Boogie monster." He fits the same archetype as Pippin Took (also an extreme empath). This archetype is usually called the "clown" or "fool." Forrest Gump and Benjamin Button are archetypically similar but not quite the same. These types always possess some unique form of insight but never fit in with the majority.
