My uber cleaning skills. Using newspaper as a lining really cuts down the time it takes to do this, and I switched from an aspen bedding to a recycled composite bedding (still safe for the pigs!) and it works marvelously! I recommend it to all small pet owners.

For inquiring minds, I made the cage using the "Cubes and Coroplast" method, a cost effective way to make a cage with enough room for pigs that need it. Have a look at this site for more: http://www.guineapigcages.com/cubes.htm
It's a great resource.

  • what bedding do u put on top of the newspaper

  • @ilovescottymyhorse Carefresh Bedding. It's a recycled newspaper composite; soft and absorbent. :D

  • if u put newspaper in the cage how long will it last?

  • @200catss Depends on how many pigs you have, and how much room there is! Less room means less space for wastes to go... My cage needs cleaning around once a week, though I put more bedding in sometimes and do it in two weeks.

  • Pet supply stores carry guinea pig food and bedding. The cage stuff can be bought at home hardware stores... read the other comments, you may find them helpful.
