1. Shotgun slugs will kill a player if it hits them anywhere up to about 10 meters (30 feet.) The only way to survive is using the Ceramic Armor perk, but that's rendered useless if the guy with the shotgun is using Magnum Ammunition.

2. Shotgun slugs will always kill with a head shot no matter how far away your target is. In this case, Ceramic Armor can never save you.

In terms of damage and range, all pump shottys are equal. However, they have slight differences in pellet spread, reload time, and pump action time. The 870 has the fastest pump animation, the NS2000 has the fastest reload, and the SPAS-12 has slightly less pellet spread than the other two.

All the pump action shotguns have the same specs, so it comes down to the skin of the shotgun I prefer the NS2000. You don't need 3 pieces of C4 to destroy a light tank most of the kills are meh. But that's what I think/know.
