Yeah this is pointlees... But if you do it on vistainstead of nothing you get a different boot screen. Its cool

As stated, on today's hardware, you won't see much difference. Other problem is, if the computer is badly shut down and decides to run chkdsk at boot, you'll have a totally black screen for half an hour. You can turn off and on as much you want, you still won't see anything, go mad, then decide the computer is broken and go buy parts. Then have a nice thought about those geniuses in Redmond.
