Philadelphia, PA - Mayme Hatcher Johnson, a native of North Carolina who spent most of her life in Harlem, died in Philadelphia on Friday, May 1, 2009 of respiratory failure.

All this talk about how Bumpy "took care" of Harlem.. Was he some Robin Hood or maybe a smart criminal who was buying the loyalty of potential witnesses. Think about it: I buy you a $30 dollar shirt... Down the line you witness me kill somebody... Out of loyalty to me you don't snitch and I avoid 30 years in prison and potential losses of millions of dollars. If you ask me, Bumpy handing out turkeys on Thanksgiving was more about having an insurance policy for HIS SELF, not doing a good deed.

In other words most of Harlem at that time was from the racist south... and yes we had things going in Harlem that no white man ever controlled the mob or cops... the thing is you are always looking at drugs, at the criminal element and say 'look at how they do their own people... Black criminals do the same thing that the Irish, Jewish and Italian criminals have done to their own people..The mob only thought they had control..they did not.We were not afraid of the mob or cops
