Hey it was a goal old chum the ref said so. Just like that was a goal that Joe Jordan scored against Wales to get you to scrape through to the 78 World Cup.

Oh by the way Scotland's penalty in this same match as Gemmil's goal was not a penalty.

Croatia have a population of 4.2 million
Currently ranked 1 below England. Scotland are 46th, below Jamaica for goodness sake. What's yer excuse now

Oh and the England population is not 5.5 million.
Massive underachievment? - Out on penalties on four occasions.

First i am not Scottish, second you have lost on penalties 3 times not 4. Past the quarter finals only once on foreign soil, even Hungary , Poland, czech republic and Belgium can equal that. The record in the European championship, even worse bettered even by Greece and Denmark. Thats not underachievement thats an embarrasing disgrace

Well that's because they get better draws and nobody cheats to beat them. Worst result in world cup since 1958 (Munich air crash, weakened team) was out in round 2. Every other time other than penalties England have been knocked out by the team that wins the competition or they have a fat coke sniffing cheat playing for them.

Well England's worst position in the World Cup finals was out in round 2. (1958 doesn't count,Munich air crash weakened team). 54 nobody cared anyway. didn't qualify in 94 after Long ball Turnip Head had been in charge. The man who took off England's best scorer in a vital match and replaced him with a new cap. The other two non qualifications were Revie and Greenwood in charge. The first did a runner whilst in charge and the second was the politically correct appointment over Clough.

What youre saying is they failed to qualify in the 70s altogether. Wrong again in 1950 out in first round. Got beat of the Americans, their goalie wore baseball gloves. Didnt qualify in 94. Listen England should never not qualify , like Germany and Italy , it should be a formality, that in itself is a disgrace.

1950? Couldn't care less. Only half a dozen teams in it. 1970s? Well England had their best side ever in that competition. Unfortunately not in the defeat by Germany, half the team out with a suspicious stomach bug. 1974? Manager Don Revie, Scottish name, did a runner before world cup, absent for a vital qualifier, case rests. 1978? had Italy & Poland in qualifying group. England beat Italy but scored less goals. Didn't select Clough as England manager. 1994? Had Long Ball Larry in charge.

You are becoming tooooo stupid to even reply to; "Revie Scottish name" too daft; You have all the excuses, which are wrong by the way. Here we go again. One player out with stomach bug in 1970; if that was the best team then youre crap; only scored 4 goals in Mexico compared to brazils 19. Only italy in group in 78. they did not qualify in 94 cos they were not technically good enough as always
