In the spring 2011 semester of Teen Lab, the museum's after school program for Chicago teens, participants had the opportunity to interview contemporary designer Michal Migurski about Walking Papers, his piece in the exhibition Hyperlinks: Architecture and Design. The teens viewed and discussed their ideas about the artwork in the galleries, prepared questions for the artist, and then used Skype to connect with the artist and to hear him talk about Walking Papers, himself, and answer his questions for Teen Lab. The teens used Walking Papers and the information they got from the artist as inspiration to create their own personal maps of the museum.
Teen Lab is an After School Matters Advanced Apprenticeship program that meets at the Art Institute of Chicago for 10 weeks in the fall and spring semesters. For more information, visit http://www.artic.edu/aic/education/teens/index.html or www.afterschoolmatters.org.
