Proper modifications and the supercharger actually increases mpg when not racing the car. It actually gets better mpg that what you see here.

you have an automatic?? surprising you put a supercharger on it with an automatic. nothing against you though. i have a e39 528i and i am tentative to do anything to it because it's an automatic. i would buy a manual but i inherited it from my parents. and they don't want me to sell it.

If you have the sport package with a steptronic ZF transmission you'll be fine. That's what I have. There are a few of us who have supercharged 540i auto's and all is well.

@Fastest540i Hey, I've got an automatic 540i myself with the steptronic and I really want to get more power out of the engine cause I know it has the potential but I'm just worried because of the automatic transmission. How much better is the supercharged engine running with the transmission being auto? does it hold up? I would love to supercharge mine.

@Fastest540i - Ya man go spend $ 900.00 on eBay for a complete swap and than you'll be happy. Otherwise this is not that great. You'd love that Getrag 6-Speed. A lot light also

got a 01 540i m-sport get about 19 city normal driving, approx 25 hwy at about 80mph

yeah man, that sounds like a good plan, there arent many six speed 540i out there, but id look for some, just to see what you find. 328s are definately respectable, but the 540s are pretty quick.

Can you tell me what kind of supercharger you put into it and how much HP it has now? And the most important part, how much it all costs? currently i have a bmw 328i from 97, but im thinking about trading it in against a 99 540i.
