Joel A. Weir was executive director of the Athens Housing Authority and director of the Chamber of Commerce when he made this film in 1947. With an eye to both of his civic roles, his footage includes the variety of housing around town, the then-new public housing on Broad Street, parades downtown, civic organizations, and businesses. This is a typical 'town film' as shot by a non-professional filmmaker. Athens Town Film.
