Clean Skies News talks to Richard Heinberg, Senior Fellow at the Post Carbon Institute and Author of "Blackout: Coal, Climate and the Last Energy Crisis". Heinberg offers his perspective on the future of coal, the costs of carbon capture and sequestration and the cost of coal. He says we'll be much better off sooner than later if we move towards renewable energy sources.
We do need a diverse energy diet, but I what he is saying seems unlikely because technology will improve as needed. The price of coal will increase, but the price of everything else will too. The gap between renewable energy sources and carbon based fuels is so large that it is going to take decades for renewable energy to become a viable option to the general public.
