What was the historical interpretation of the verses concerning treatment of Jews and Christians? How did Muslims treat Jews and Christians, historically? Muhammad massacred Jews when they rejected him, the Caliphs imposed the Jizya on Christians (the Quran commands Muslims, when they seize power, to humiliate "infidels" with a tax), and Muslim armies, when they imperialized Christian Palestine, north Africa, and southern Europe, decimated cultures and enslaved myriads.
