Portia de Rossi - Arrested Development wins Best Comedy Series at the 2004 Emmys September 19, 2004

Portia de Rossi (and the cast of Fox's Arrested Development) wins Best Comedy Series award at the 2004 Emmy Awards on September 19, 2004. Ellen DeGeneres presented the cast (which included Portia) with the award.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were NOT together at this time, they were still with their respective girlfriends (Ellen with Alexandra Hedison and Portia with Francesca Gregorini). It looks like they did not have any contact with each other while up on stage, by the way.

i heard they met backstage at an awards show, towards the end of 2004, before Portia & Francesca broke up...

something tells me this could be that awards show. if it is, we're watching history in the making people!!

The awards show where they officially "hooked up" (some people say messed around or just made out, but no one knows for sure) was the Big in '04 awards on December 1, 2004. They had met previously but never did anything until that night at the Big in '04 awards. I have an interview of Portia at that same awards show where she "hooked up" with Ellen on my channel.

I think Ellen and Portia make a wonderful couple.

Oh and btw, Arrested Development was one of the best shows on TV.

I know, all these run ins just prove more and more that they were meant to be.. as simple as that! Arrested Development was so awesome and funny... Too bad the world wasn't ready for a show such as that one.... I don't think they are ready nowadays either... :-/

I am a big Ellen/Portia fan and it's just that i was wondering if you guys are sure they actually me here. I could be wrong but last time i saw the interview with both of them on Oprah i thought that Portia said they actually met at a photo shoot where they both really felt something when they saw each other or something like that. But please correct me if i am wrong. And Arrested Development is the bomb, seriously :)

@VmarsGgirl That's because this is not where they first met. They first met at a concert in 2001 and even though there was a lot of chemistry between them they didn't do anything about it until December 2004 when they finally got together!

@roseofyork it was never played here in the uk i dont think i only found out about it through ellen:) just stared watching it on th internet and its one of the best tv shows ever:) i cant wait for the movie either hopefully it will come out over here:) if not ill fly to the states LOL
