Waylon Jennings - Will The Wolf The Survive. Lyrics in desc.

Verse 1:
B
Through the chill of winter

Running across a frozen lake

Hunters hard right on his trail

All odds are against him
A E
With a family to provide for
A B
But one thing he must keep alive
E A
Will the wolf survive?
E
Will the wolf survive?

Verse 2:
B
Drifting by the roadside

Climbs a strong and aging face

Wants to make some honest pay

Losing to the rainstorm
A E
He's got two strong legs to guide him
A B
Two strong arms keep him alive
E
Will the wolf survive?

Bridge:
E A E
Standing in the pouring rain
A E
All alone in a world that's changed
A D A
Running scared now forced to hide
E A E
In a land where he once stood with pride
B A
But he'll find his way by the morning light

Verse 3:
B
Sounds across the nation

Coming from your hearts and minds

Battered drums and old guitars

Singing songs of passion
A E
It's the truth that they all look for
A B
Something they must keep alive
E A
Will the wolf survive?
E A
Will the wolf survive?

B
Will the wolf survive?

  • outlaw doesnt mean you are a bad person it just means you dont just go along with others waylon wanted to make his own music not what the record company told him to do like a dancing chicken that made him an outlaw

  • First we trapped him, then we poisioned him, then we shot him......now we need him.

  • Ole Waylon didn't write the song.

  • @wqq355 you are here illegally too... Puritans raped the land and the natives that were here before us. Dont pull that illegal shit.

  • @BrynMawrYamBag 90% of the wetbacks i 've know have been good people. i have dug ditches beside them, ate food from them. admired them for trying to make their lives and their families lives better. but the fact is they are here illegally, and there is nothing especially brave about what they are doing, they are basically stealing. the real wolves are the immigrants who come here and do it the right way, like so many german, irish, italians, and yes mexicans have done in the past.

  • all of the responses to this song are bullshit, none of you know what ol'e Waylons about

  • I interviewed Waylon on the air. We talked about this song and other things like the death of Buddy Holley. I had to go to commercial when Waylon started crying. He wasn't such a tough guy. He was a good Guy. We ended up going to Grady's for BBQ after the show. A few years earlier, I was at Buddy's grave laying flowers and Waylon was there with me. He was a nice guy. The outlaw thing was a facade. He was as mean and nasty as a new born Puppy.

  • Geez, love and miss you Hoss

  • one of my faves..

  • And to just put my two cent in.. I've never realy searched to see what this song was about.. but I grew up listening to it.. and I always thought the "wolf" in this song was a bit more about the Rape of Europeans and Americans (yes I'm one) to the Native American lands and culture.. just means more to me like that for some reason..

  • must be about canadian imigrants because the first verse has a frozen lake in it..lmao..
