The classic "line" of WC refers to the classical FORMAT of the WC matches. It has nothing to do with FIDE breaking apart of whatever political bullshit going on there.
Pono and Khalifman won the WC not under the normal candidates/qualifying and then 1 on 1 match, but through a single, knock-out tournament.
Karpov is a more complicated issue. He was the FIDE "replacement" after Kasparov (rightful champion) defected from FIDE. But Karpov followed the classical WC format.

Also, if you want to add Kramnik as a champion, you'll have to state that he was the Champion from 2006 to 2007, because in 2000 he won the PCA championship and not the unified championship.

@ASIMOS78 I'll have to disagree with you, buddy. I guess that Pono, Khalifman, Kasidhmazov and Topa had the same rights to be noticed. I mean, Neither Pono or the others FIDE World Champions came up with the title without doing anything. Also, it's funny that that thing that you call "Classical Line" started as a simple extravagance by Steinitz. Anyway, nice video, pal.
Also I hate FIDE for never taking the world championship seriously and originate this fights.
The world Champions, the real ones, are only those who belong to "the Line", which starts with Steinitz and ends to Anand, with his victory against Kramnik. If you want to consider as World Champions players like Ponomariov, Khaliffman e.t.c. that's your personal problem. Even The Great Karpov, cannot be considered as World Champion after 1985 and his loss to Kasparov. The same for Topalov. He lost to Kramnik in the unification match. "The Classical Line " must be respected.
