1945 -- Pioneering occupational medicine doctor Alice Hamilton retired
1947 -- the first industrial hygiene courses offered at University of Washington School of Medicine.
1947 -- Uranium mining began in the Navajo Nation in the southwestern USA.
1947 - April 16, the French freighter S.S. Grandcamp exploded in Galveston Bay, Texas City, Texas. This explosion killed 512 people
1948 -- Passage of India's Factories Act, to consolidate and amend the law regulating labour and providing for the health, safety, welfare and other aspects of labours in factories
