I know not every American is like that but that is the general opinion Americans seem to give off, esspecially when you guys slate our National Health Service in the UK as Socialistic which it is not its just ethical and the right thing to do and I would like to add that our healthcare has now overtaken the US in terms of surival rates even though we are a smaller country people just live longer here, something is seriously wrong in America you have to admit that at least!

Cardozo's majority opinion in Helvering v Davis 1937 clearly shows the superiority of Hamiliton's reading of the general welfare clause "The conception of the spending power advocated by Hamilton and strongly reinforced by Story has prevailed over that of Madison". It would take a massive change for the Supreme Court to overturn that ruling; it is a not flawed separate but equal ruling. Your other option amend the constitution-unlikely

@pmagrin Bullshit. That supreme court was a bunch of liberal ass panseys who know what "General Wefare" meant (it meant military, mail service etc...not actual welfare), but ruled on it anyway. We are about to change all of this liberal nonsense.

@calimar28 Even Fox News(!) showed Ron Paul he was wrong! The Supreme Court ruled Social Security constitutional under the General Welfare Clause in 1937. Ron Paul claimed it was just a liberal ruling. The Constitution made them the final arbiter of what is or isn't constitutional. If he is a 'strict constitutionalist' he should accept their judgement rather than stick his fingers in his ears and scream it's unconstitutional.
