When they released this drug a long time ago, nobody had the technology to create a synthetic version of plasma, so they required donors, a lot of them having HIV without knowing it. HIV wasn't well known at the time and I doubt they INTENTIONALLY distributed AIDS, but at the time this happend, the friggin government believed only gays could have HIV
