This is the classic Larry Carlton solo, one of the most creative of all time. It's one of those that lifts the listener to a new plane, facilitated by the complex backing arrangement provided by Donald Fagan and Walter Becker ( aka Steely Dan ), including some off meter fun.

In part one, Larry plays some licks that just feel amazing on your hands. It's hard to imagine how he came up with many of the phrases from the wild rising, almost atonal riff over the B7-9 chord to the smooth descending riff over the Bb13 chord ending with a really nice chromatic phrase
