If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.

  • 60 cents for a light-bulb....Where is this guy buying bulbs. I buy a 4 pack for 88 cents. Thats 22 cents per bulb

A CFL Is $4? not around here..$10 for a two pack!

Ok his numbers are off so far but lets dig deeper. He claims a regular light bulb would need to be replaced 13 times in the time span a CFL will last.

OK 13 times my 22 cent bulb=$2.86 thats cheaper than a CFL isn't it?

And his electricity savings will disapear when the utility company raises rates to cover revenue lost to CFL's

  • I've had far too many of my two 6-packs of CFL (one GE, one Neptune) bulbs burn out prematurely. I bought this house in late Oct '09, and I have amassed 5 dead bulbs. I've also had to replace all the bulbs in the garage and the basement as they're absolutely useless in colder climates. All in all, not terribly impressed. Luckily I've got the receipts, as these are dying far earlier than warrantied for.

  • I'm not happy with CFLs cause at 10 degrees or less they don't warm up very quickly and have about a 10-20 watt equivalent for a 60w rated= bulb. I cant wait fo r affordable leds with instant on and brightness = to a incandecent.

  • I am not very happy about CFL because three times CFL already burn out and smoke into air. Mecury vapor air that make my left eye become blind for 45 second and restore my left eye to see again for first time. I hate CFL because of mercury and HIGH EMF! I bough LED light without Mercury and some other low 25 or 60 watt incadescend light bulbs. CFL is very dangerous because fire and smoke mecury vapor into air. BAN lousy CFL!

  • LED is safe, no mercury to worry about, less energy then CFL, no transformer at the base of the bulb ( like CFL has ) and lasts the longest - see the mythbusters test
