The legendary hotel of Wroclaw, built in 1892 in Art Nouveau style, welcomed among other guests Pablo Picasso, Jan Kiepura and Adolf Hitler. Andrzej Wajda shot his famous scene with the glasses on fire, for his movie Ash and diamond. Marlena Dietrich stayed at this hotel during her visits to Wroclaw.
n 1984 Monopol Hotel was placed on the list of historical monuments. Presently, thanks to its new owner, the hotel is being restored to its original greatness, comparable to the one from the era before the war. Carefully restored, Monopol of Wroclaw is the most recent addition to the Likus Hotel and Restaurants group, honoured for its achievments with prestigious awards (recently Prix Villégiature 2007 of Paris for „The Best Hotel Interior Design in Europe for Stary Hotel in Krakow).
There are 107 individualy designed rooms ans 14 suites. Every room is decorated in diferent style and got unique character.
