If someone develops a distaste for sex because they were sexual abused,
I don't see how that's less valid then developing a distaste for alcohol because of alcohol abuse.
Yet if I said tomorrow to people, that I wanted to become a pioneer, I would probably receive a lot of support.

Growing up - particularly during teen years I did not know if asexuality could be applied to humans so I described myself as ...just 'different'. And that would prevent my parents going deeper as to why I didn't date or bring anyone home to meet parents. I like your epithet 'I was born just "me'' ' tag. It's not the first time you've said it. It gives you a non sexual/desciptive individuality. Your analysis was spot on. I love it.

i agree we r not all born the way we r, the way we grow up and the things and ppl around us affect how we end up. an example could be myself, everyone always tells me that i was born with talent for art but thats not true. i'm good at art b/c my parents put a crayon in my hand when i was little and i havent stopped drawing since. i feel the same applies to my sexuality probably many small things happened over the course of my life to make me asexual but nothing i could specifically point out

When I was a kid I was bullied by everyone. I was also a victum of verbal and physical abuse from my parents. That said I knew I was different than the other people. I knew that people treated me differently. I knew I was not gay. I knew I was not bi. Straight did not fit either. And I knew I would never marry no matter how much I wanted to be normal, liked, and loved.
